Jordan Vaden wins
100 meters while Team USA Finishes 2nd at Norwich

Jordan Vaden was an unexpected winner of the
men's 100m. Running into -1.5 meters per second
headwind, Vaden won in 10.39 seconds to upstage the
home favorites Mark Lewis-Francis and Dwain
Chambers. Lewis-Francis was second in 10.41 with
Chambers third, two hundredths behind. Allyson
Felix, Wallace Spearmon, Bernard Lagat and Brianna
Glenn also led Team USA to a runner-up finish on the
final day of the 2006 Norwich Union International
Match in Birmingham, England.
Russia won the team competition
over the weekend with 349 points, with Team USA
finishing second with 312.5 points. Britain was
third with 269 points with China fourth with 158.5.

Bershawn Jackson, Wallace Spearmon, Bernard Lagat,
Tianna Madison and Erin Gilreath are just a few of
the Team USA stars who will compete against teams
from Great Britain and Russia at the 2006 Norwich
Union International Match, August 19-20 at Alexander
Stadium in Birmingham, England.

Former LC Sprinter Excels at AT&T USA Track & Field

LC sprinter Jordan
Vaden placed second
in the 200 meters at this weekend's AT&T USA Outdoor
Track & Field Championships in Indianapolis,
Indiana. Vaden clocked a personal best of 19.98
behind world leader Wallace
Spearmon’s 19.90.
Jordan's time has ranked him second in the
world. Jordan Vaden also placed fourth in the 100
meters with a time of 10.20; also a personal best.
He is currently finalizing a contract with
Nike
and has received a schedule to compete in one more
meet in the United States and the remainder of the
summer in Europe.

Prior to the championships, Jordan Vaden finished
fourth in the 100 meters at the 2006 Prefontaine
Classic in Eugene, Oregon. In the 100 meters, he has
finished in the top four thus far in the 2006
season.
While at Livingstone, Jordan Vaden won the 2004 NCAA
Division II 200-meter National Champion and was the
400-meter Runner-up. He is an eight-time NCAA
All-American and he holds five CIAA Track & Field
titles.
